Prevent users from approving their own approval request

I have a request flow set up where the user selects who to send their branch location, which automatically lists the manager of that branch as the approver. Unfortunately managers are constantly moving around, and often I don't receive an update.

To get around having approvals being sent to the wrong person, the user is able to edit the email of the approver. Potentially, they could list themselves as the approver.

Is there anyway to prevent users approving their own requests? I understand they could get a coworker to approve their request, but I feel self approval should be an easier issue to address.

Yes, you could add a condition to the approval Flow that would check if the submitter matches the approver. If they do match, then deny the approval request with a "APPROVER CANNOT MATCH SUBMITTER" rejection email, if they don't, then proceed with the approval request.

If you could provide an expanded screenshot of your Flow and steps, your Flow run history, and of any detailed error messages you're receiving we could likely better assist you. Also, for the best results, you may want to review How to write a good forum post.

Hi @rsparks ,

Could you please share a screenshot of the configuration of your flow?

As @Brad_Groux  said, you could check if the request creator is equal to the approver with example as screenshot below:

There are no error messages, as there are no errors occurring. I'm just trying to prevent the user from approving their own approval request.
