Read excel when file is created on sharepoint

Hi!

My task: whenever new excel file is created in a sharepoint folder I have to retrieve specific data from it and send mail with the data. Excel files are always the same format, different filenames, I can format them as tables. I spent 2 days google-ing and here is my problem.

In step "When a file is created in a folder" I get my site listed in dropdown "Site Address" (also can see my folder in folderID) but when I add next step "List rows present in a table" I definitely cannot see the same sharepoint site listed in "Location". I am totally new to MS Flow and found no spec: In field Location I need to select the same site I have selected in Site Address of "When a file is created in a folder"? Is it possible somehow to set it dynamically or to use different action to read the excel, to workaround?

It's weird because I tried other sharepoint site (it was listed in both actions), "Folder Id" dropdown from "When a file is created in a folder" listed a way more folders then "Document Library" from "List rows present in a table" for the same site. Why?

In general is there any other connectors/actions to read excel on sharepoint instead of Excel Online Business? I read many posts complaining of it.

Thank You!

Ivanhou

Hi @Anonymous ,

Please make sure the new excel file would always has the same table name such as Table1 and then you could refer to screenshot below to create the flow:

Hi @Anonymous

Some times the refresh is not that great showing all the information under the drop down list. What you could do is click the enter as dynamic and enter the address manually. Save the flow. Back to main menu. Edit again. You should be able to see the sites correctly.

Thanks
