Replacing Dynamics Workflows - Execute as User

Hi folks,

I have a question about replacing Workflows in Dynamics with Power Automate Flows. I had a look at this post which has some excellent information in it but it didn't quite answer my question, which is this:

When you create a workflow in Dynamics you get the option of executing as the owner of the workflow or as the executing user. Can anyone explain how you can replicate these two scenarios within Power Automate? My assumption is that the former (owner of the flow) is standard for an automated flow triggered using the CDS connector (create/update, etc.) but how can we run the Flow in the context of the calling user?

The last question is, if there is a way of running as the calling user does that user then need a Power Automate licence as well as Dynamics (searching around I found this article which seems like the answer is probably yes: https://crmtipoftheday.com/1276/do-my-dynamics-365-users-need-a-microsoft-flow-license/).

For me this seems like it's not enabling us to directly replace workflows without paying for more licensing...

Cheers,
Matt

Re: Replacing Dynamics Workflows - Execute as User

Hi @MattTaylor ,

I have made a test on my side and couldn't find a way to replicate the owner of the workflow or as the executing user within Power Automate currently.

I would make more test and would reply here if I find the way.

Best regards,

Alice
