Request Approval - After opening a document, request approval should pop up

Hello Everyone,

I am still a beginner on this and created a flow from blank because i couldn't find the one i needed from the templates.

I have a Document Center under a Subsite, and the Documents have some folders and documents. So, what I want to do is, if a User opens or reads the documents under those folders, a request approval is need. This will only show if you are in the Visitors Group unless if it's a Member or Owner.

The flow I created looks like this: On Selected File> Get File Properties > Get My Profile V2 > Start an Approval

So if yes, then you may be able to open and read the document, otherwise you can't open it and will be back to the document page again.

Can anyone give me insights or maybe I am missing something?

Thank you so much.

@MJaM:

As I mentioned above, SharePoint will permit anyone who can see a document in a library to open that document.  No custom permission level or other technique can change this behavior.

So, if your requirement is for users to see documents in a library and not open them, you will not be able to accomplish your goal with SharePoint.

As this is really a SharePoint question rather than a Flow question, please consider posting any follow-up questions in a SharePoint forum.

While I don't totally understand the requirement, users must mave at least read access to a library in order to see a document in a library.  If they can see a document then they can open it.  It sounds like you want people to be able to see the documents but not read them.

Any ideas if this will be possible?
