Resending Approval Email after Set Time

Hello all,

I need a way for my flow to send out an approval email, and if an option hasn't been selected within, say 24 or 48 hours, the email will be sent out again as a reminder. I don't necessarily need the email to say anything differernt, however if (as a bonus) there were a way for the subject to change to "Reminder: (original subject)", that would be even better.

Is this possible? I've messed with time-out function but I haven't been too successful.

Hi @2016pearsoow,

Could you please share a screesnhot of your flow's configuration?

I have made a test on my side and please take a try with the following workaround:

  • Add a proper trigger, here I use "When an item is created" trigger.
  • Add a "Start an approval" action, click "Menu" button, then select Settings option.27.JPG

Within Settings for 'Start an approval' panel, within Duration property of Timeout area, type the following formula:

P1D

You could also type the following formula within Duration property:

PT24H

Note: The P1D or PT24H are both ISO 8601 format, both of them indicate the timeout of the "Start an approval" action is 24 hours. If you want the timeout of this action to be 48 hours, please type the following formula within Duration property:

PT48H

or

P2D
  • Add a "Start an approval 2" action, Title field set to Reminder: Approval Request, click "Menu" button, then select "Configure run after" option: 28.JPG

Within "Start an approval 2" should run after panel, select "has timed out" option and then click "Done" button:29.JPG

The flow works successfully as below:31.JPG

Best regards,

Kris
