Send HTML table to SharePoint List

Hi all,

I'm creating a Flow for an approval (wait for all responses), the responses then create an HTML table and emailed to the creator of the approval.

Is it possible to take the responses and comments to populate a SharePoint list?

I've tried using the dynamic text for the 'Response Comments', 'Response Summary' and 'Response Approver Response', but the SP list remains blank if multiple response are received.

Thanks in advance

Craig

Hi @tom_riha

Thanks for your help on this. I followed your suggestion in your blog Display approval history in a simple, user friendly way via Power Automate (tomriha.com) and it seems to work great.

Thanks again

Hello @Craig_Cowley ,

you can take all the responses and store them in a SharePoint list, just loop through all the responses and for each of them create the new item.

Hi @tom_riha

Thanks for the response. I need to have multiple people to approve, so was looking to use the 'Create an approval' trigger with the approval type as 'Custom Responses - Wait for all responses'.

What I found was that if everyone approved, no information was added to the SP list, if the first person rejected then information was added to the SP list

Because I have 5 different products and each product has different approvers, I'll eventually put a condition in between the 'Create item' and 'Create an approval'

Ideally I'd like the full contents of the HTML table to populate the SP list.

Thanks

Craig

You should check the flow run history why it didn't create anything. What is the output of the approval task? Did the 'Apply to each' run for each approver? Was the item creation successful? etc. The flow run history will tell you what happened there.

Hi @tom_riha

Thanks, the SP column was a short answer and the content exceeded the 255 characters. I'm using the below dynamic content in the 'Update Item'

Approve3.png

I'm now getting updates in the SP list, although it's not formatted very well. The email is ok, as it shows the HTML table.

Is there a way to format the SP list better?

I'm wondering if it's possible to add a line break on the end of the dynamic content, for instance the "Approve, Approve, Approve" appears on separate lines.

Thanks

Hi @tom_riha

I've tried to format the SP list responses in the SP 'Update Item' as follows:approve1.png

with the responders ID, response and comments

This does give a better visual appearance in SP, but only for the first person to respond, even though the update is within an 'Apply to each'!

One step forward, two steps back!

Any thoughts would be most welcome

Thanks

Hi @tom_riha

Using your approval table, is it be possible to incorporate a reminder email if someone hasn't approved within a specified time? But only for those that haven't responded?

Thanks

Craig
