Send an Alert only when a specific DevOps column changes

I would like to email the "user story requestor" when the Kanban column changes to "User Acceptance Testing"

Hi @Anonymous , you could do something simliar to this:

Trigger

Your trigger would use the DevOps triggers, however these are in Preview at the moment so be aware that there may be some instability to them. The trigger which I have used is: "When a work item is updated (preview)".

Condition

If the State value (from the trigger) is equal to UAT

Condition - True

Send an email

Condition - False

Do something else

Thanks @MattWeston365,

Does the "Send To" field allow a variable for example "requestor email"?

By requestor, do you mean the person who created the story or do you have an additional field that you've created?

On a default configuration of DevOps which I'm using, I can get person who created the story and the person who modified it. The only issue is that it comes out as:

Name of Person <email address>

So you'd have to use an expression to pull the email address out of the string.

Re: Send an Alert only when a specific DevOps column changes

That is correct Matt, you read my mind.

We have a field "Requestor", which indicates the user who requires the feature.

At the moment we don't have their email address but can easily generate that or create a Requestor Email address field.

Ideally we would like to add their email address to the email "to" field
