Send different email depending on Kusto query

Hi,

I have a flow that accepts Kusto query as an Input.

My goal, is to run a ForEach loop on the Kusto query and for each object I get in the result, send an email.

The problem, is that each Kusto query is different, so I cannot arrange one format of the email.

I did explored the "Create HTML Table", it works great if I use the whole "Value" I get from the Kusto - it does not work if I'm including it within the ForEach.

Your assistance will be greatly appreciated 🙂

Thanks,

Mr_AD

Hi @abm and thanks for the assistance.

I've managed to do something easier (I'm lazy :)), although not super elegant - it definitely does the job.

1. I've created empty array on the top of the flow

2. Running in a for each loop, I'm appending the current for each item to that array

3. Using a single object array, I'm creating a HTML table from array

4. After sending the email, I'm resetting the array for the next loop to start fresh.

Hope this helps someone out there! 🙂

Hi  @Mr_AD

I haven't personally used this connector but if you are using a for loop then it can iterate only fixed value datasets. It can't be dynamic.

Thanks

Hi @abm and Thanks for you answer.

My flow looks like this:

Mr_AD_0-1641158871175.png

The Kusto get it's query from outside the flow,

After running the query the results come in JSON format.

If I'm taking this JSON and put it in a "Create HTML Table" all works fine,

but since I'm running in a for loop, the "Create HTML Table" fails since It's getting an object and not an array.

Any idea how to overcome this?

Thanks 🙂

Hi @Mr_AD

Thanks for your reply. Create HTML expects an array. Why you need to loop to create HTML table? As you mentioned if you don't use the For Loop it works. Could you please explain?

Thanks

Hi @abm ,

Thanks for the assistance.

My Kusto query produces an array of items that need technical attention from an engineering group,

This is why I'm using a for loop - each item needs to be sent individually in order to have the ticketing system open multiple tickets. If I'll send only one email with the table, only one ticket will be issued.

Thanks

Hi @Mr_AD

Ok understood. So in that case you can't use the create table action step. What you could do is format the results from for each loop and construct your own HTML table.  Please see below blog which explains how to construct a custom HTML table in Power Automate.
