Send email to people based on the history of a drop-down column.

Hi,

I created a flow based on a SharePoint list that tracks incidents. I have a switch control that, based on a drop-down column in SharePoint, sends an email to a group of people based on the Escalation level of the incident. There are different people on each escalation level.

Everything was working fine but not they asked me to add a "Resolved" option to the escalation drop-down so they can close the incident. The issue is that they want this status to trigger an email notifying the issue was resolved for all the people who were notified in the previous levels (So, if it was escalated to L1, L2 and L3, an email would be sent to all the people on those levels) and I have no idea on how to do this. I have been looking with no luck.

Any help will be deeply appreciated

Hi @debbiebv ,

Sorry for we couldn't know the history of an item when the item has been updated in the list (List A) so your requirement couldn't be easily achieved.

The workaround be create a list (List B) to add new item to the list B to save the value of the drop-down column when an item is created or modified in the List A(and the value not equal to Resolved).

And if the value is equal to Resolved, get list items in the List B and get the all the saved history of the drop down column, send the email.

Best regards,

Hi,

I am not sure I understand your question. When I select each escalation level, higher people in the organization are notified so they can take action to solve it. The idea is that, whenever it gets solved, anybody who was involved (originally notified), gets notified of the resolution.

Thanks.

Is there other way I can achieve this. Even if I have to change things in my original list/flow

Hi @debbiebv ,

Sorry for I'm afraid that there is no any other way and you could take a try with my suggestion in the first reply.

Best Regards,

Alice
