Send file with HTTP Rest

I am receiving an email with or without an attachment to create an issue in Jira, then send a request to Jira to upload the attachment. In Postman it works but in Flow I can not upload the file.

I'm really a rookie with HTTP REST. I'm a bit confused and need help. I'm creating a new Custom Connector that uses an action that sends a multipart form-data file. I've tried many of the examples in this thread but I haven't been able to make it work.

The API documentation (swagger) states that only two parameters are required: "id (path)" and "file (formData)". I don't understand that where should I add that file parameter, maybe in the body's JSON? And should I add that JSON in the connector's action already or leave the body empty and compose it later in the flow?

EDIT: I was able to make it work by leaving the connector action's body empty and composing JSON in the flow. This thread was very helpful, thank you all.

Hey Anonymous

Can you please help me. I try to make a http call in power automate. I have the following postman collection. How should the body look like in the http call? 🙂

Screenshot (2).pngScreenshot (3).pngScreenshot (4).png

My requirement is to create a Jira ticket with attachment every time a Microsoft forms response is submitted. Let me explain my flow:

Image 1:I am using these actions to get details from form including the attachment. I am then using parse json action to get data of the attachment.

Image 2:I am then making the http request to create a issue without the attachment and then using parse json action to get the issue(ticket) key.

Image 3: I am then using the issue key to make another POST request with the body of the attachment

Image 4: I am getting the body of the attachment, instead of the attachment itself.

How can i post the actual attachment instead of the details(including path of image) to jira using http?

This looks mostly right except for the `body`.  I see you are using the details from the email step.  You need to get the actual file contents of the attachment using "Get File content" from the sharepoint action

I was trying to use submission from MS Form to send to Jira board. With your solution I am able to attach file, however it appear as json file. Any idea on how to solve this?

are you using the result from "Get File content" step?  what does the JSON look like?

Did you manage to make it work in Postman first?  using Postman greatly helped me understand what was missing as I could compare my request vs what was happening in PA

I am able to attach file according to its original format now.

Hey @Dette ,

Could you tell me how you  are able to show it it original format , I am able to attach file, however it appear as json file as well
