Set new value for a given file property for a newly created SharePoint file

How do I set a new value for a given file property for a newly created SharePoint file? In particular, I want to be able to create a new file from the contents of the file that triggered the workflow and set the "Created by" property to be the same as the original file. Basically, I'm trying to move the file that created the trigger, keeping the same file properties, including the "Created by" property.

 

The basic flow that I'm implementing is:

 

  1. Trigger: (SharePoint) "When a file is created (properties only)"
    1. Synced SharePoint library for "scan-to-pc" scenario, which creates the file and syncs/uploads to Sharepoint
  2. Action: (SharePoint) "Get file content"
    1. uses document library and file identifier from previous step
  3. Action: (SharePoint) "Create file"
    1. "Filename with extension" (dynamic content)
    2. "File Content" (dynamic content)
  4. Action: (SharePoint) "Set property"
    1. *** This is the step I don't know how to implement ***
    2. I want to be able to set the "Create by" property to be the same as the property from the file that triggered the Flow.
  5. Action: (SharePoint) "Delete file"
    1. "File ID" (ID from original trigger) (dynamic content)

Could you share more details on step 4? Is it the SharePoint action Update property? I haven’t seen an action called “Set property”.

 

Do you have a Person and group column in the second library named as CreateBy?

 

If it is the SharePoint action Update property, and you have a column named as CreateBy. Please check the following flow configuration for a reference.

 

In the second library, there is a person and group column named as CreatedBy. In the flow, I am using the action Update properties, make sure select the dynamic content Created By claim from the trigger.
