Set regarding on sent email

I am building a flow that sends an automated email to contacts with Dynamics 365.  When I send the email I want to set the regarding in outlook to the contact record in CRM. Seems like there should be an option to do this when I create the email to send.  I have looked for this in the boards but am not finding anything.

Any help would be appreciated

Hi @2Fish

Could you please post a screen shot of your flow?

Hi @2Fish,

Have you tried to get the record of contact and output any information?

If you can give more information about your requirements and screenshots of Flow configuration, it will better for us to assist.

The flow from start to finish is long.  By the time the step shown below is reached, I have the following information available:

Contact, Account, Event Registration, Event Setup Details and Invoice.  I just need to know how to do a "set regarding" when i send the email so that it attaches to the contact record.  Capture.GIF

Hi @2Fish

Thanks for the screenshot. I can see the email body have texts and mappings. My understanding for set regarding is bottom of the email you are trying to set the contact name? Is that correct? If it is then you need to pass the id to another flow step (add this before the email step) Get record (CDS) so that you can get the contact details which you can map in your email body.

I have the contact information available since I am confirming their name and address information further down in the email.  Is there specific text or values I need to add in the body that will create the regarding link?

Hi @2Fish

Could you please explain what is the regarding link means? What information you would like to map here?

In Outlook I have my Dynamics 365 connector.  From here I can attach this email to contact in my database so it is listed in the activities for this contact.  Here is an image using the email from your response.

Hi @2Fish

Again if I understood it correctly you want the email set as a regarding in Dynamics Contact record?

Yes.  I want the set regarding defined using the flow when the email is sent.  If that is not possible at time of creation how do I do it in another step?  There is no option for doing this with the "Send and An email from shared mail box" action.  I don't know what more information I can give to explain it.

Hi @2Fish,

Unfortunately, Send as (From) field in the Send email action has been removed, there is no way to send as the other email address.

As a workaround, you can create different connection of the email address in the Outlook connector if you have the permission of these email address, send an email with different accounts:Annotation 2019-11-19 165017.png

Thanks @2Fish  for raising this, I have the same issue, did you manage to solve it?

thanks

No did not get it solved.  I had to set it aside to handle other issues and did not get back to it.  If I find a solution I will post.

You can't do what you want with the Outlook actions.  You have to use the Common Data Service connector and the Send Email action.  See this article for the details: https://www.crmsoftwareblog.com/2020/01/send-dynamics-365-emails-from-power-automate/

The only downside to this approach is that the email will not show in the user's sent items folder in Outlook.
