Set up Automatic Replies (V2) - time showing wrong in Outlook

Hi all,

I'm currently trying to build a very simple instant flow where I insert a Start and End day as input and that creates an Automatic Reply in Outlook in accordance.

My flow looks like this:

The problem I'm facing is that despite having used GMT as the desired Time Zone, the Automatic Reply starts and finishes at 01:00:00 (instead of 00:00:00) in my days of selection.

Any thoughts why and how to solve? Thank you for your help in advance!

Thanks,

Antonis

I replicated your test and for me it sets the time for 7:00 PM the day before.  Since I'm in GMT - 6 and Daylight savings time is active the -5 is the correct time for me.  I think what you need to do is adjust the start time from your timezone to GMT before saving it as GMT.  The following works correctly for my time zone.  Just substitute your actual time zone for Central.

Have you allowed for Daylight Savings Time at certain times of the year?  That would account for being one hour off.

Hi @Pstork1 ,

Thanks for your response. I'm fairly new to Power Automate so not really sure how to do that? Is that an option in one of the steps that I'm not currently seeing? Or do I need to add more steps to get the timezone adjusted for Daylight Saving?

If it is the latter, would you mind explain/showing to me how can I achieve that?

Many thanks again for your help!

What time zone are you located in?  Even if you set it for GMT in Outlook it will convert to your local time zone.  Could that be where you are getting the one hour difference?

Hi @Pstork1  - I'm currently based in GMT+2 but want the flow to work for GMT. The automatic reply seems to capture the times for GMT+1...?

Hi @Pstork1 , many thanks again.

I tried your method, added a Convert Time Zone step and used the output for the Time Zone values in the Set up Automatic Replies operation.

However, I'm now getting this issue. Any thoughts?

Put the converted time into the Start and End date/time, not the timezone.  The timezone should still be GMT or UTC. You need to do a convert action for both the start and stop times.

@Pstork1 - yes that worked, now getting the right Automatic Reply times!! You're a hero!!

Thank you so much, marking your answer above as the Accepted Solution.

May I also just grab the opportunity to ask? If I wanted the flow to be able to capture the Time Zone of every user playing that instead of doing that statically for GMT, is there an easy way to do that?

Thanks,

Antonis

You'll need to add something to the trigger for user's to select their time zone.  Then use that setting when doing the time zone convert.
