SharePoint Flow Issue

In my library, I created a column that I want to pull information from the "Name" column.  Reason being is that I want to use it for a calculated column and the Name column can't be used there.

So I created a flow "When file is created or modified" and then "Update file properties"

I have it working, but the issue is that it keeps running whether any item is modified or not.  And when it does run, it doesn't just run on the one item, but on the whole library and will create a new version for every document even though a change was only made to the one item.  Now every few minutes it's running again and creating a new version of all the files even when I haven't made any changes in 2 hours.  Not sure if I picked the wrong trigger, or there is another easier way to do this?

My error - the condition should say "not equal to" rather than "equal to".

The idea is that if you have already populated the Name2 column, the Flow will end.  If it is empty, your Flow will continue and populate the Name2 column.

Please post a screen shot of your Flow with as much detail as possible.  That will make it much easier to assist.

Re: SharePoint Flow Issue

@MikeNJ00

You have created an infinite loop - every time the file properties change another Flow is triggered which starts another Flow.....

To avoid this issue, add a condition to your Flow immediately after the trigger - see my screen shot below.

Please note the null must be entered in the expression window.  Be sure to click on update after entering null as an expression.

Also, please not that the terminate action status is set to succeeded.

Re: SharePoint Flow Issue

Thanks Scott.  I updated as per your post and it shows that it's running succesfully, but now the "Name2" column is no longer copying the data from the Name column.  Does this look correct?Flow2.png
