SharePoint Get Items ODATA filter of "Multiple lines of text" column

Hi,

I have a Flow where I need to filter a list of items when a specific text is found in a "Multiple lines of text" (Notes type) column.

I previously configured the column to be of type "Single line of text" and was able to filter using  "substring" but have since changed the column to "Multiple lines of text" and it appears that I can no longer use "substring".

I tried using "contains" but this appears not to be permitted.

What is the longest length of characters to a "Single line of text" column"? 255 characters? If longer, then I could probably change back to "Single line of text", however if there is a chance of filtering "Multiple lines of text" columns then I would appreciate any advice.

Thank you Smiley Happy

Re: SharePoint Get Items ODATA filter of "Multiple lines of text" column

Hi @ Cologne_Claret,

Could you please share more details about the value in the column and what you would filter out from the value?

Could you please share a screenshot about the not to be permitted when you use "contains" or "substring"?

The longest length of characters to a "Single line of text" column is 255 characters. Would your value in the column more than 255 characters?

Please share more details so we could try to help you.

Regards,
Alice Zhang

Re: SharePoint Get Items ODATA filter of "Multiple lines of text" column

I have the same problem.

When I try to use an odata filter on Sharepoint "Get items" I get the error:

The field 'Body' of type 'Note' cannot be used in the query filter expression.

The Body field (AKA Description) is set as "Multiple lines of text".

I found another discussion that suggests that querying on this type of field is not supported.

Re: SharePoint Get Items ODATA filter of "Multiple lines of text" column

I worked around this by concatenating a single character to the multiple lines of text field for every item in a compose action (in an apply to each loop), and then using a condition to filter out items where my compose action's length was equal to 1.

Pardon me, this appeared to be working but it isn't.
