SharePoint Online 2 level approval with Flow

Hi All,

We are designing a simple flow which 2 level approvers based (for Approver 1 and Approver 2) on SharePoint Online.

I have some queries:

  • Assigned to:

Using in the Start an Approval action, in the Assigned to, I can use either single user or multiple users.

It also works for Office 365 group.

But Assigned to field does not Azure AD security group or SharePoint groups ( with a workaround) in our testing.

Q: Is my assumption correct? Any Flow
  • Out of Office

If either Approver 1 or Approver 2 is NOT in office OR out of office,

Q: how I can handle this scenario using Flow as there is NOT delegation now? Can I set a due date for the approvers to approve task within a specific day?

What is the best approach should I choose?

Any advice will be highly appreciated.

Re: SharePoint Online 2 level approval with Flow

Hi @sandy_791,

As you mentioned, currently Assigned to does not support fill multiple users from AAD security group or SharePoint Group.

The method mentioned in the link is a good method, you could refer to it.

You could get the email address through many other actions supported by Flow and populate it in the Assigned to field.

The requirement is that it must be a member of the organization, and the emails are separated by semicolons.

About Out of Office, are you referring to members outside the organization, or something else?

If you won’t use Start approval action, Send an email with option is also a good choice. This also applies to many scenarios.

As for the setting deadline you said, it seems that there is no suitable way to achieve it now.

Best Regards,

Barry
