SharePoint - flow approve button sets to reject

I have set up an flow for when a item is created or modyfied within a document library.

I have no errors on the flow

When clicking Approve, the status changes to Rejected in the library and the rejection email is sent. The whole process is then started again and doesn't end here.

When clicking Reject, it does the correcvt rejected status in the library and send the rejection email but then sends another email to start approval again.

Any ideas on why the Approve is not working and also why the process is not ending please? I have screenshots from the condition part....thank you 🙂

Re: SharePoint - flow approve button sets to reject

Hi @AndreaBurgess ,

Thanks for providing the screen shot.

In the Condition, please use dynamic content Response instead of Responses.

I have made a test using Response, which is working properly.

Besides, as you are using the trigger “When an item is created or modified”, which will cause an infinite loop if you have a following action to update certain field in the same list.

However, in this scenario, if you are just going to update the Content approval status, then the flow will be triggered only twice for per manual modification.

Re: SharePoint - flow approve button sets to reject

Hi @AndreaBurgess ,

Thanks for updating and glad to hear that it works.

Currently, Flow doesn’t have a trigger for Create and Modify separately, so I am afraid that one duplicate approval cannot be avoided.

Here is one similar request, please vote it as well:

Thanks for your understanding.

Best regards,

Re: SharePoint - flow approve button sets to reject

That was very helpful thank you, it worked great.

Regarding the duplicate approvals, to prevent this from happening, would I have to create seperate flows for create and modify?
