Sharepoint List Comments - switch?

Hi

I have a sharepoint list for a helpdesk and have created a few flows.

One flow I'd like to create is  when a technician adds a comment, it emails the originator with the update.

I've connected the flow to the list same as before.

However, I'm struggling with the switch case.

When a comment is updated, there is no change in condition of the field, the comment is just added, but how can I define that in the switch?

Thanks

Re: Sharepoint List Comments - switch?

Hi @karldenton ,

Could you provide more details about Comments field? Is it a custom text field or a site columns?

I guess you want to send an email to the specified user once there are any updates to Comments field.

You could use empty() function directly to determine if this column is empty, and if not, send the message.

Expression:

empty(triggerBody()?['OData__Comments'])

However, it is worth noting that the existing Flow of MS Flow cannot monitor whether the specified field value has changed.

What can be done is to trigger Flow when the change occurs in the entire list, but the specified field value does not necessarily change.

Re: Sharepoint List Comments - switch?

Hi

Thanks for your help.

The comments field is a site column (sharepoint built in field)

Yes when a technician comments on it, I'd like to email the originator (a field) to update them.

Thanks

Re: Sharepoint List Comments - switch?

Hi @v-bacao-msft

Not as yet. Will this send the update if other fields are updated? We have internal fields so wouldn't want them getting an email everytime we update other fields apart from the comments !

Thanks
