Simple Calculation

I'm guessing this is a softball but surprisingly I've been unable to find the answer.  I have a Power Automate flow setup to pass the results of a form submittal to email.  One field from the form is a number of hours.  I would like to multiply the number of hours by 25 to calculate a dollar value so that I can include this dollar value in the email.  I added a Compose step that reads:

When I insert the output into the email, I get "[2*25]" (2 hours as the input in this test).  Could somebody please advise me on the correct syntax or whether I'm barking up the entirely wrong tree?  Thanks in advance!

Re: Simple Calculation

Hi,

You need to use an expression.  Try wrapping it in a "mul"

mul(NUMBER*25)

Re: Simple Calculation

Thank you VERY much, @cdn4lf - exactly what I needed!

For anybody else in my same boat, a few notes:

  • I had to convert the form content from a string to an integer before using it in the calculation. Easy to do thanks to the steps @v-micsh-msft outlined here
  • In case somebody is literal and has trouble, the expression needs a comma rather than asterisk: mul(NUMBER,25)
  • Lastly, I was able to insert the expression directly into the email body - no additional Compose step needed (other than those above to convert the string to integer)
