Stop flow re-triggering on item created/modified

Hi! Need assistance modifying a flow to only trigger once. I have a flow set up to send an email when a box that defaults to no is set to yes. However, it keeps running each time the item is modified and we only need it to send the initial email. Any ideas to help?

Re: Stop flow re-triggering on item created/modified

The suggestion has been made in Flow Ideas to change this behavior, but it hasn't happened yet.

As a work around, you may want to have a second hidden column (Flag) that gets set when the email is sent.  If the Flag is set to a specific value, then don't send the email and exit the Flow - put this logic at the top of your Flow.

Re: Stop flow re-triggering on item created/modified

Hi @ww6971

First of all, welcome to community.

As @ScottShearer said we have only this workaround for a while, but it works.

After create a new column in your SP list to flag 'Mail sent', in your flow after send the e-mail you can update the current item column 'Mail Sent' to true, create a condition to verify if 'Mail sent' is true, if yes use a Terminate Action as Canceled to differentiate between successful and error.

Best Regards,

@Sbonerabon I don't know if this is a work around, but if the email is to be sent only once on any event other than when it is created, setting a flag is the best option.
