Task marked as completed, in flow marked as not completed

Hi,

I have a flow which will trigger when an item is created in a list, it will create an item (fill in due date) in a task list.

I have a condition, when task status is equal to completed, the flow should send an email, if not equal, do nothing.

The user has a certain amount of time to complete his task (before the due date), if he completes his task, the user should manually marked his task as completed.

But now the problem is that flow always considers the task as not completed, even if the user has marked his task as completed before the due date. Is there a solution for something like this?

Re: Task marked as completed, in flow marked as not completed

Hi @Gines,

Could you please share a bit more about your Task list?

Further, could you please show a bit more about the Task Status column? Is it a Choice type column in  your SharePoint list?

I assume that the Task Status column is a Choice type column within your SharePoint list, I have create a Task list on my side and the data structure of it as below:15.JPG

Note: TaskName is a Single line of text type column, Executor is a Person or group type column, Due Date is a Date and Time type column and Task Status type column is a Choice type column. The screenshot of Task Status column as below:16.JPG

The Default value of Task Status column is Incompleted.

  • I have made a test on my side and please take a try with the following workaround:
  • Add a "When an item is created" trigger.
  • Add a "Compose" action, rename it as "AddDays", Inputs set to following formula:
  • addDays(triggerBody()?['Created'],1)
Add a "Create item" action, specify Site Address and List Name, Due Date field set to output of "Compose" (AddDays) action.
  • Add a "Delay" action, Count set to 2 and Unit set to Minute. I use "Delay" action instead of "Delay Until" action for test.
  • Add a "Get item" action, specify Site Address and List Name, Id field set to ID dynamic content of "Create item" action.
  • Add a Condition, left input box set to Task Status Value dynamic content of above "Get item" action, right input box set to Completed. Within middle drop down, choose is equal to.
  • Within "If/yes" branch of Condition, add a "Send an email" action.

Note: On my side, I add a "Delay" action within my flow for test, on your side, you could change it into "Delay Until" action. The configuration as below:20.JPG

The flow works successfully as below:19.JPG

Best regards,

Kris

Re: Task marked as completed, in flow marked as not completed

Hi Kris,

Thank you very much for your help, it worked. I had to use the 'Get item' action so the flow will know that an item is modified to a new value.

For your information, I used the standard task list from SharePoint (not a custom list) and the Task Status column is a standard column in the task list (with values as completed, in progress, deferred,...).
