Trigger won't work when a flow when a SharePoint (choice list) column value has been updated.

Hello all,

 I am working on a simple Flow solution to move a document based on column value (list type). I have tried with a logical field (true of false) this is working, but I would like to get the flow triggered based on a column with choice list values.

I have modified a column value of document with Status = For Approval, but expression in flow result = false.

Re: Trigger won't work when a flow when a SharePoint (choice list) column value has been updated.

Hi @Webmagic,

Could you please show a bit more about the Status column in your SharePoint library? Is it a Choice type column?

Further, could you please show a full screenshot of your flow's configuration?

I suppose that the Status column that you mentioned is a Choice type column, is it true? I think there is something wrong with the formula within your Condition box.

 I have created a Status column in my SharePoint library, which is a Choice type column (Available values: For Approval and Completed). The screenshot as below:13.JPG

I have made a test on my side and please take a try with the following workaround:

  • Add a "When a file is created or modified (properties only)" trigger, specify Site Address and Library Name.
  • Add a Condition, left input box set to Status Value dynamic content of the trigger, right input box set to For Approval, within middle drop down, choose is equal to.
  • Within "If/yes" branch of Condition, add "Get file metadata" action, specify Site Address, File Identifier field set to Identifier dynamic content of the trigger.

         Add a "Get file content" action, specify Site Address, File Identifier field set to Identifier dynamic content of the trigger. Then add a "Create file" action, specify Site Address and Folder Path, File Name field set to DisplayName dynamic content of "Get file metadata" action, File Content field set to File Content dynamic content of "Get file content" action.

Note: Within your Condition box, you could also click "Edit in advanced mode", type the following formula:

@equals(triggerBody()?['Status']?['Value'], 'For Approval')

The flow works successfully as below:
