Trouble Connecting Freshdesk & Sharepoint Lists

Hi all,

My end game here is to get a daily list of payment tickets, but I'm having trouble just getting the flow started. The flow says it runs successfully but no list item is created. I'm somewhat of a novice so I'm sure I'm missing something basic.

Just as a follow up: Is there a way to delete the entire list after each day? I'm trying to have a daily report that we go into and extract data from and it recycles itself without the need of having hundreds of singular lists.

Hi!

Since The Sharepoint list you are pointing to is blank, no items are read by 'Get items'. According to your current logic, this explains why 'Apoly to each' is executed zero times and, since 'Create item' is inside it, it is also executed zero times.

So my next questions are... what' the purpose of your 'Get items'? and... did you add the 'Apply to each' on purpose, or was it automatically added by the Flow editor?

Thanx!

Hi!

According to your current flow design, there can be two different reasons explaining why no item list is created even though flow execution was successful:

1.- condition takes false branch

2.- condition takes true branch, but 'get items' output is empty, so 'Apply to each is executed' 0 times.

Can you share a screenshot from your last flow execution? So we can figure out if the reason is #1 or #2

Thanx!

Hi efialttes,

Thank you for the quick response. The second screenshot is a test execution and the first screenshot is an actual ticket someone made that still ran "successful" even though the subject wasn't, "payments."

Not sure why the bottom half didn't post. I grabbed a full webkit screenshot

Here is the test flow bottom half - I'm positive I'm missing something basic and obvioustest flow bottom halftest flow bottom half

Hi again!

According to the flow design shared, my expectation for both execution examples you shared is that:

-the condition evaluation will fail for the one without payments in the Subject, so it takes the false branch, does nothing, and Flow terminates successfully.

-the condition evaluation will succeed for the one with payments in Subject, so it takes the true branch, 'Get items' is executed, 'Apply to each will be executed X times (same nr of items obtained by 'Get items'), and Flow terminates successfully.

I mean, Flow is marked as failed only if something internally crashes, or you add a 'Terminate' action block and specify status 'Failed'. So if your expectation is that when flow runs and takes the false branch, flow execution shall be marked as failed, you just need to add a Terminate action block to the false branch.

Now, on te second execution (the one that takes the true branch), in the current screenshot you shared I cannot see  the nr of times 'Apply to each' was executed. Can you scroll down and share a new screenshot?

Hope this helps

I think I'm following what you're saying, thank you!

With the test flow that takes the true branch it doesn't actually tell me how many times, 'Apply to Each' was executed. This is the full screen 😕

Hi again!

Thanx for the additional screenshots

Please add a dummy 'Compose' action block just after 'Get items', and assign it the following WDL expression:

length(body('Get_items')?['value'])

Then reexecute the flow and inspect the output value provided by 'Compose', so it will give us the nr of items obtained from your Sharepoint list. Even though the nr is 0 -meaning 'Apply to each is executed 0 times'- the Flow execution status will be 'Succeeded'.

So we are following this strategy to count:

https://tahoeninjas.blog/2019/07/04/how-to-count-number-of-items-returned-by-sharepoint-getitems-act...

One additional request:

On Flow design mode, can you expand 'Get items' action block by doubleclicking it and also click on 'Show advanced options', then share a screenshot from its contents?

I believe we are closer to a happy ending!

Hello my friend,

I'm struggling with that expression.

workflow(length(body('Get_items')?['value']))

I'm not the best with programming to be honest.

As for the advanced options of the Get Items action it is completely blank:

advanced options of get itemsadvanced options of get items

@Dan-Golden

Please remove workflow from your expression, it should be this instead:

length(body('Get_items')?['value'])

Next, how many items are currently stored in your Sharepoint list? With current configuration, 'Get items' it will provide max 100 items unless you have Pagination activated in its Settings, but you can increase this limit up to 5000 it by setting this same figure on 'Top count' input or even higher by activating Pagination

More on this limit and how to activate pagination on this great article

Hope this helps

I fixed the expression! Get items returned 0 of course.

get items returning 0get items returning 0

The Sharepoint list I am pointing to is blank. I simply made a new list and left it there. I made no changes to it. You think I have to add something before hand?

Hi again,

I've always struggled with the programming side of IT. My thinking was I needed to "get" the List before adding to it. The apply to each added automatically by the flow. As you've pointed out I didn't even need that part. I removed the get list and apply to each and I now have an item in my list:

successful first runsuccessful first run

@Dan-Golden

So, is it now working as you expected?

Thanx!
