URL Parameter Contingency

Here's my current flow:

User A submits MS Form 1. A SP List item is created.

Form 1 is approved. User B is sent MS Form 2 to complete.

User B submits MS Form 2. User B manually inputs SP List Item ID in order to update that same Item created after MS Form 1 is completed. It works great (Thanks, @ScottShearer )

Question: I am trying to prepare for an inevitable scenario where User B incorrectly enters the ID in Form 2. And currently, when that happens, their Form 2 responses disappear into an abyss. Or worse, they enter an ID that already exists and overwrite an existing SP List Item.

Given the lack of URL parameter control (ability to automatically pre-populate the relevant ID number), I need to plan for this edge case.

What do you experts recommend? Here's a draft of what I am considering:

Re: URL Parameter Contingency

Hi @draymond11,

For the question you asked when an ID already exists the flow with Form 2 will overwrite an existing SP List Item. You need to set a condition to determine the ID whether already exist in the SharePoint List:Annotation 2019-06-28 180840.png

-If yes, send reminder email before Form 1 is approved, and notice user resubmit Form;

-If no, send the approve email to your approver.

Because if you don't correct the ID at this step, the following steps will be troublesome, causing your data to be confused.

Please have a try, hopes it can help you.

Re: URL Parameter Contingency

Hi @v-lin-msft ,

Thank you for your reply. More than anything, what I am looking to solve for is the scenario in which a user enters the wrong ID, and the Form 2 responses disappear since they don't meet the ODATA filter query: ID eq New Supplier ID

ID being the SP List Item ID and New Supplier ID being the field the user enters in Form 2 so Flow knows which item to update.

Do you have any ideas about how I could store the Form 2 results somewhere, then update the correct item if ID eq New Supplier ID?

Problem I am having with a Flow I created to solve for this is all items were updated with a Form 2 entry (as opposed to updating a single item).
