Unable to recreate 'If current item field equals value' in Power Automate

Please help! Having just realised all my 2010 workflows are about to be switched off, I am now power learning Power Automate!! And I'm stuck!

The scenario: I have two lists, lets call them list 1 and list 2. When a new item is created in list 1, which contains a Date field, the workflow goes off to list 2 and looks for the same date in an existing list item. When it finds the item it checks a different column value within that item and based on that the workflow knows how to continue.

I am unable to recreate this. I've tried 'Get Items' to retrieve list 2, and tried to pull back just the one list item by using a filter query like this: Date eq 'Date' (both fields in the two lists have the same name), but that doesn't work. I've tried looking at the Condition option but I seem to be missing something!!! What am I missing??

Any help would be gratefully received!

Thanks

Hi!

So you typed the following text, right?

Date eq 'Date'

I believe you need to open the dynamic content menu, select the column from List#1 and add it inside the quotes instead.

I am just adding a screenshot with a random example, in this case I selected from dynamic content menu a couple of variables declared on top of 'Get items'

Hope this helps

Thank you so much for your quick response, and yes that seems to have worked! I'm a little confused as I thought I had already tried this but perhaps I was adding the date field from the wrong list 🤔.

It's also great to get a little reassurance that you're in the right area!!

On to the next puzzle.....

🙂
