Update Adaptive Card on Timeout

Hi All,

Is there a way to either update and/or replace an adaptive card sent to a user in Teams when the message expires?

Thank you,

Sean

Hi @cdn4lf,

It's unfortunate that update Adaptive card feature is not supported on Power Automate for now.

As a workaround, you could create a branch with action under the Adaptive card action to send the other repeat Adaptive card after previous action time out:

@v-litu-msft  is there a way within the adaptive card json to say after X minutes update with this message and after submit update with a different message?

Hi @cdn4lf,

Sorry, adaptive card not supported to do that.

this is how I did it, you create 2 parallel branches, the right branch sends the Adaptive Card to the user since I gave it 90 seconds to timeout at the left branch, so it will terminate the process if the right branch does not go through in that given time.

@BatInDaCave , but how does that change the text on the already sent adaptive card to say that the card has timed out and to do X?

@cdn4lf it won't. Like others have mentioned I don't think it's possible at this stage to update the content on an adaptive card after a period of time.

What @BatInDaCave suggested, I believe can be achieved (assuming no additional messages are required) by going into the Configure option for that Team's Adaptive Card action. There should a field for Timeout and with that, you can specify how long it takes before that Adaptive Card action has timed out (though again, it won't refresh the adaptive card content).

For those landing here from Google. It is possible now with the action "Update an adaptive card in a chat or a channel"

Have a look at this video, here it is shown in detail how to use the feature and its limitations: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ZHv0l_6W5Q
