Update Item Not working

I have a SharePoint List that tracks the progress of creating a new material in our ERP system.  I have a column- "Status" that is a choice column, and is not part of the Form for new entries.

The logic goes like this- Engineering creates a New item in the SharePoint list, and fills in the first few fields.  The last field they fill in is a choice column with (2) options.  This is the trigger that determines who the next department to work on this process is (US20 Operations OR US21 Operations) by setting the Status column to show this.  Then the next department (US20 Operations OR US21 Operations) completes their boxes (all are Yes/No columns, with default set to No), in which the flow should update the Status to show the next downstream process name (Purchasing, Accounting, Quality, Sales, Complete).  The last column of their respective columns is the trigger for the next department, and so on until the last department checks their box, then the Status will display "Complete".

I have a Flow setup that sets this column's value when a New Item is Created (US20 Operations OR US21 Operations)- and it works as intended.
Then I have a second flow setup where when an Item is Modified, it is supossed to update the Status column based on If the trigger columns (all Yes/No columns whose default is No) changes.  I have it set up to check the trigger columns working backwards, from end to the beginning and then terminating if it finds a "true" condition- because as the SharePoint is updated by the various departments, their respective check boxes will be "true" and I would not want the Status to be stuck on the first step of the process.

Problem Statement: The flow tests successfully and no errors are found, but it is not Updating the SharePoint List as intended.

Instead of using the word true use the Expressions tab of the dynamic content dialog to input the function true or false. Conditions are case sensitive and don't always work with strings for boolean variables.

That's why I asked. Yes/No columns in SharePoint normally appear as a Checkbox.  So unless you are doing conditional formatting then its not a Yes/No Column.  Here's a Yes/No column in my SharePoint online site.  True shows as a Checkmark and False as a blank field.

Ok, mine does as well-

MShelnutt_2-1709039386290.png

When I set up the List in SharePoint, there is only 1 Yes/No column type to select.

MShelnutt_1-1709038917170.png

Regardless, how do I get my Flow to work properly?

The Flow is reading these fields as "true/false"=

As I mentioned. If you use the True or False function entered via the expressions tab then the Condition should work when comparing it to the Yes/No column. If that doesn't work then you need to use a Compose just before the condition to look at the column value you are checking to see what the actual value is.

@Pstork1 what would that look like?  Can you show an example (template) I can follow?

I setup a list with a Yes/No column called TestBoolean. Here's how you would check the value and setup the condition.

And this is what a run looks like

@Pstork1 Im sorry, this is so frustrating as it should be easier than this.

Here is what I plugged in-

MShelnutt_0-1709040697666.png

Then I done a test entry, and here are the results-

MShelnutt_1-1709040738392.png

*Why does it say the expression is "false", when clearly it is not?
The first step in this flow has this as the output from the last test run-

MShelnutt_2-1709040876990.png

That should satisfy the Condition requirements to trigger the Update item action...

First, in the Compose you need to insert the field from the dynamic content dialog, not just type in the JSON for it.  Also, the Condition should use the field, not the Compose output. The Compose is so you can look at the value.  Right now the value of the Compose when you run it isn't either true or false. Its the string you typed in "TriggerBody()?['US21_Routings']" So the condition is false at this point. because you are comparing the field name not the field value.

@Pstork1 Here is my setup per your instructions-

MShelnutt_0-1709042152026.png

I manually choose the test, then edit my test entry in my SharePoint list by checking the Yes box of the "US21 Routings" column, and here are the results:

It looks like its not the condition that is the problem. If you look at the Compose where you are loading the value it gives you a link to download. That normally means the value is either null or a complex object of some kind. That's why the Compose always goes to false.

Can you show me where in the flow you are loading the record that you are getting that field from. Also, if you click on the link it will open a browser window to show you the value. If the browser is blank that means a null value. If its a complex object you should see JSON.

@Pstork1 Im not exactly sure what you are asking for regarding where I am loading the record.  If you look at my page 1 of this thread, your answer may be there.
Second, when I click the download, it is pulling a blank page.

So looking back at the original question I assume this is the flow that is triggered when an item is modified. The problem is that the field you are trying to use in the condition is null. That's why the condition is false. Is the trigger set to include all columns or is it using a view under advanced settings? Does that view include these columns?

If this is the flow with the modified trigger it may be that the value is null because SharePoint doesn't send values for null fields and a No in a Yes/No field is considered Null. But if that is the case then the Condition is working properly because if the field was marked yes it would be sending a true.

Can you take a look at a recent run and find the field in the JSON output of the trigger? See if that field is even listed. As I said, your condition is correct. The problem is related to retrieving the values from the list in the trigger.

@Pstork1 I dont have anything in Advanced settings.

The problem is that the field you are trying to use in the condition is null.

I have the default on all my Yes/No columns set to No.

In the Run History result, looking down through the Outputs, it all looks correct.  Only the fields that were changed for this test show true.  All the others show false.  The one test field I am using to get this figured out is the column named "US21 Routings".

Based on the output you are showing from the trigger your condition should be working.  Can you show me the Peek Code (found in the '...' menu) on the Compose? For some reason you are not getting the value that is showing in the output of the trigger and that is why the Condition is failing.

I see the problem. You are getting the dynamic content from the wrong action for your Compose (and probably for the Condition as well). You need to scroll down and get it from the original Trigger action. Right now the compose is loading the value from the action where you update US21_Quality. I suspect when you update that you aren't filling in the US21_Routings. So when you use that value its null. You need to make sure you are getting the value from the trigger.

@Pstork1 Ok, so I see there are several layers to the Dynamic content.  I scrolled all the way to the bottom, which I would venture to guess is the beginning of the logical flow... and selected it.  Ran the test again, and now it says there are no inputs.
