Hello all,
I am currently working on a small automation project in which I'm using Microsoft Forms as a user data input method.
The Form is organized in a way that subjects are separated by sections. Each Forms section contains questions related to a specific subject.
What I am having trouble achieving is using a Forms section as a conditioner in my Flow. I need to update a variable and assign a value to it based on the section the answered question comes from. That generates an ID which I'm using to update values on an Excel spreadsheet.
Is there any way to do it?
Best regards,
Iori
I think you only have access to the individual questions, not sure how you're creating a section. If you put a unique identifier in your question such as (Section1), (Section2) you could then use the condition action to test where a question contains (Section1) if yes set variable value. This is the perfect scenario for why the switch action needs to be expanded to allow for values other than true. So in your case you'll just need a condition for each section, I wouldn't try to nest them, it will get confusing fast.
Hi, thanks for the reply!
How could I check all questions for the identifier?
it's not as simple as I thought, each question is assigned a guid in the code, there isn't text you can analyze.
Can you post the results of the get response details? I don't have a similar example handy to test this, but if the response details come back as an array, you might be able to back into the response and get the guid for each question and group them via condition statments.
It returns something along the lines of the following in the "body" section
{
"responder": "manuel@manueltgomes.com",
"submitDate": "7/28/2021 10:41:26 AM",
"r917f27f11e4b433c93bfad308c133b94": "[\"IT\",\"Finance\"]",
"rbce4c992fc4f4453b01567fe21e17099": "2021-07-28",
"re2c5f1cc0fc14413ad38347f3d5ef9c4": "4",
"r9d6a6441c0244a269fcafc4fdb879c16": ""
}
Could I fetch the IDs and group them?
This is going to take some trial and error to get it right 100% of the time, but what I am thinking, is you have to go out of the box here. Try creating a compose action and for the value do a return (new line blank line), this is the easiest way I found to consistent get the right value for a line break. Then a second compose try a split function, where you split the response body by the compose output previously. then just for kicks put an apply to each with the output of the compose that has the split function. If you're lucky, it should show an apply to each of 6.
If the above doesn't work you'll have to take that body content and run it through a replace so you can escape the comma here
"[\"IT\",\"Finance\"]"
just replace it with a pipe "|" or something so you can split it later if needed. Then you can run a split on the replace output and then you'll have one line for each question (this is now an array so you'll need an apply to each). so then you can then test for each line if it contains a certain GUIDs assign them the same section id.
