Using Variable in Create Planner Task action (Bucket ID)

Hello, I  have a Flow for a job tracking system.  One of the fields in the SharePoint list is a choice field for Site.  Upon submission a Planner task is created and ideally the task would fall into the relevant Site bucket.  The logic.

If Site Value = A then Planner bucket = A, If Site value = B then Planner bucket = B and so on.

I  initialised a variable at the start of the workflow to equal the Site Value selected. Unfortunately the Flow fails... seems sound - the value returned is the correct site string.

bucket variable.PNGbucket task.PNG

The error:

Schema validation has failed. Validation for field 'BucketId', on entity 'Task' has failed: The specified identifier is invalid.

Would anyone have any ideas on this?  thanks

Re: Using Variable in Create Planner Task action (Bucket ID)

Hi @Brice235i

The Bucket ID parameter in the Create a task action, expects the ID of the Bucket and not the name. You might want to add an action to list all the buckets in the plan and then iterate through those to get the Id of the bucket based on the name of the bucket and then pass that ID.

Currently this is a limitation in Flow and you can create an idea here if there is not one already:

Hope this Helps!

Ah yes, that makes sense.  Thank you so much for the workaround and the link to the uservoice idea.
