When list (choice) field is set to "yes" or "no" send email, if no value set, don't send email

I have a SharePoint List where we have a choice field called “Fully Signed Off” that has the choice options “Yes” or “No”

In our process, this is the last field that gets filled out when a user is entering a new record into the list. The field may be set later, after the record has been initially entered.

Upon setting to “Yes” we want an email to be sent out to certain users with comments and upon the field being set to “No” we want an email to be sent out to certain users with comments.

I looked at this example under “Building Flows” that looks to be what I want to do:
https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Building-Flows/Unable-to-set-condition/m-p/21375#M1160

However, I’ve set up my Flow as so:

Flow - Fully Signed Off.jpg
But when the value is blank (neither YES or NO) the Flow also sends out a message that the person was not signed off successfully:

Blank Fully Signed Off.jpg

What we are hoping for is a workaround where when Fully Signed Off is set to YES, it sends an email that the person has been successfully signed off, and that when Fully Signed Off is set to NO, it sends an email that the person has NOT been successfully signed off.

When they are filling out the record, and Fully Signed Off is neither set to YES or NO, we do not want email being sent (which is what is happening).

Re: When list (choice) field is set to "yes" or "no" send email, if no value set

Hi @DS2,

According to your description, I assume that using Switch cases would be a good choice for your scenario.

I have made a simple test on my side. Before creating the flow, add a Choice column with value Yes and No in the list.

The flow is created likes below:

1.PNG

Use the trigger When an item is created or modified, then the Switch case. The case is based on the value of SignedOff. If it equals to Yes, send an email to someone. If it equals to No, send an email to someone. While if it is blank, the flow will run failed.

Please take a try with it on your side.

Thank you so much, Mabel! Another team member took your suggestion and ran with it, and the Switch option did the trick for us.

Really appreciate your help.
