display values from "append changes to existing text" column in email flow set-up and powerapp

Hi!

I have a column in my sharepoint list with " append changes to existing text"  on. In the sharepoint list it just shows "view entries".

I am working on a flow that sends an update request to the owner associated with that item and in the email I have included a number of fields but also want to show the various items in that specific column. However, when nothing comes up in the email for that field.

Is there a clever way of modifiying the flow to retrieve all the entries in that column and displaying them into the email? I am also looking for a way to show these into a powerapp which I am building in case there is also a solution for that.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions. I did look around for solutions but couldnt find anything that worked.

Hi @bh4

Please follow the below steps. Here I am usin a selected list item from SharePoint which I am using as my trigger. Next step I have declared an array. This is used for storing all the comments later.

Next we need to use the API call for getting all the versions and use a parse JSON to extract the values. To get the schema of the JSON run the flow up to Send an HTTP request to SharePoint step. Copy the results into the Parse JSON to generate the schema.

}
}
}
}

Finally iterate the JSON results and append the comments in an array.

Hi @bh4

In your email all other field mapping are showing correctly? Only the 'Update' multi-line text values are not displaying.

Hi abm,

Yes all the other fields are correct. Just the column with “append to existing text” is blank.

@abm helped me to get the flow to work during a screenshare. He was very knowledgeable and helpful.

When following this thread, is the outcome intended to enable inclusion of multiple "append changes to existing text" comments into an email (I am trying to provide a history of this field)? Following these instructions, I expected the "Comments" Array to be available as dynamic content for inclusion in the body of the email. Does this need to go through some alternative transformation in order to make it available to embed in the html?

PLease provide the append text column name in the api end as above.

Hi Im trying to extract all of the (historical) comments from the same column type, please guide as get items and https request is unable to grab all items

@viplavmulkacpm What is a column type you are having in your sharepoint list?
I tried with sharepoint Text Column it works for me.
If your column is a text Column,
1.How many characters of data you have in that column?
2.How much data loss is happening if you are trying to get?

Its may be a sharepoint API limit kindly check these all points along with API documentation.
