o365 Email to On-Prem SharePoint 2013 attachments

o365 Email to On-Prem SharePoint 2013 attachments

Hi,

I currently have full access to MS flow and have a gateway setup to connect to my on premises SharePoint 2013 environment.  I can confirm that there are no connection issues with either my o365 outlook or SharePoint on prem.

I am trying to accomplish the following:

Strip PDF files from emails in a given outlook folder

Specify a date range (received date) to strip these emails

Rename the PDFs using text within the attachment itself, meaning that if there is an attachment called Document41693232019987.pdf, I would like to extract the file and rename it to 4169323202document.pdf in SharePoint.

So far, I have been able to get the flow to pull all attachments from any new email in a specified folder.  However, I am wondering if an expression to rename the file in the SharePoint Create item section would work. In addition, from what I have read there is no way for Flow to recognize file types, is this still true?

Re: o365 Email to On-Prem SharePoint 2013 attachments

Hi @kilaj1,

Do you want to delete the attachments in a specific email folder? I am afraid that it cannot be achieved, currently there is no action can be used to delete email attachments.

Do you want to delete emails within a date range? Yes, we could achieve it by using the action Get emails, then use a Condition to filter the items within the date range.

To rename the PDFs using text within the attachment itself, it is not available currently, as extract contents from the attachments is not possible. If you want this feature, please submit an idea on the Flow Ideas Forum:

https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Flow-Ideas/idb-p/FlowIdeas

Finally, about the file types, it seems that it is still not possible.

Best regards,

Mabel Mao

Re: o365 Email to On-Prem SharePoint 2013 attachments

Thanks for the responce Mabel.  I dont need to delete the emails jsut geta copy into SharePoint, which does work.  The problem is that the PDFs are named baddly with a serial number.  I used an application called Sperry Attachment Save, which is a Outlook plug in.  Worked fine for a while, but some bug prevented it from pulling emails beyond december 2017.

With reguards to the Date range, I do recall attempting to use Conditions but it didnt work.  Since the Flow triggers based on "new" emails, ive decided to just create a new folder and target that and copy the emails that need the PDF stripped out.
