"Modified by" is set to Flow creator

Hi all,

I am setting a calculated date on all new documents via a Flow, which works fine EXCEPT that all files afterwards seems to be edited by me, the Flow creator. That is most unfortunate. Is there any simple way around that?

Re: "Modified by" is set to Flow creator

Hi @McKnaffens ,

It is a default behavior that the file will be created/modified by the flow creator.

The blog @Pstork1  suggested could be a workaround for you. Please take a try with it.

Another alternative way you could try with is using the button trigger For a selected file, then Manage run only users, so that users will be asked to provide their own connection to this connector, thus the file will be created using their credentials.

Please check the following doc for a reference.

Re: "Modified by" is set to Flow creator

The modified by date is automatically set by the system and since the Flow runs in your Context it will set the modified by to you. There is no easy way to get around this.  Take a look at the following article by john Liu. He talks about how to set the modified by for a list item.

http://johnliu.net/blog/2019/2/flowninja-hack-78-modifying-modified-by-and-modified-time-with-micros...

His Blog talks about using validateUpdateListItem as a way to update a list item's metadata.  If you use the bNewDocumentUpdate: flag set to false it doesn't trigger a new version.  So the other thing you can try is just ot use this to update your item directly.  If you set BNewDocumentUpdate to false it should trigger a version or set the modified by at all. Here's a blog that talks about that.
