trigger email when file is modified and include the name of modifier

Hi,

I have created a flow to send an automatic email when a file is modified on OneDrive.

I have two issues:

  1. an email is triggered also when someone just opens the file but does not add anything. I want an email only when the file is really modified
  2. in the message body I would like to add who modified the file but so far I could not find a way to extract this information

Can anyone advise how to achive what I want?

Thanks

Zoltan

Re: trigger email when file is modified and include the name of modifier

Hi @Zoltan,

Please choose the trigger "When a file is created (properties only)" instead of trigger "When a file is created".

Best regards,

Alice

Re: trigger email when file is modified and include the name of modifier

Hi @Zoltan,

Do you mean the email is triggered in your flow when someone opens the file but does not add anything?

I afraid that it is because the excel file would be automatically saved after some minutes,so please make sure the excel wouldn't automatically save so the trigger "When a file is modified" wouldn't triggered.

If you want to add who modified the file in the message body, please refer to screenshot below to create the flow:

Re: trigger email when file is modified and include the name of modifier

Dear Alice,

Yes, exactly what I meant. I hoped OneDrive can sense if someone actually adds something to the file or just views it. I do not want to deactivate automatic saving as this ensure no added content will be lost. If someone just looks at the file and do not change anything then I do not want a message triggered by the automatic saving.

For some reason the "last modified by" dynamic content does not appear for me in the selections.

Best regards

Zoltan
