Hi,
I'm trying to build a flow that will replace some text in new emails.
The email is of HTML format, I simply want to replace the following text "75%-100%" with "90%.
I'm able to retrieve the email using get email v3, the problem is the email is an object/array and is of html format.
I cannot use the replace expression since it can only operate on strings.
I don't really want to convert the array to string using split since it seems to lose all of the html formatting.
How can I replace the text easily without removing the html formatting?

Hi @garethaw ,
Try this:
Should work to replace the 75%-100% by using this, which replace the body of the email:
replace(triggeroutputs()?['body/body'],'75%-100%','90%')
Let me know how it goes 😄

Hi,
Thanks for your reply, getting the following error:
Unable to process template language expressions in action 'Compose' inputs at line '0' and column '0': 'The template language function 'replace' expects its first parameter 'string' to be a string. The provided value is of type 'Null'. Please see https://aka.ms/logicexpressions#replace for usage details.'.
Ok, please try using 'When a email arrives' instead of 'Get email'.
I think that should work, because you will get the body in the correct format then.
any idea why the formatting is lost when email is sent?
here's what the email looks like:
Hi,
Some of your code is probably outside the "<p>"
Check out this link:
https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/I-Found-A-Bug/Send-an-Email-v2-not-saving-HTML-code/td-p/706769
If you make sure you have your compose inside <p> Compose </p> it should work, example from the above link:
As you can see, from your output you're getting </p> in your output, which means that the email action isn't reading your compose correctly.
Let me know how it goes 😊
Don't understand,
I have tried putting the paragraph tags in the compose, that didn't work
also tried putting it in the email, that did not work either
Hi again @garethaw
You should'nt put in the compose action, only like this om the email action:
If you still have issues, please paste the body of the email in HTML and I can take a look. Before that try to create this flow again from scratch, and see how it goes.
It's a bit strange that you are getting issues here, since it's working like intended for me.

For the record, @Heartholme 's solution should work, and if we get this sorted, I recommend choosing that as the fix. However I'd add that the <p> tags are not required in the Compose.
---
I think everyone should have a pat on the back, here as you might have found a Power Automate hack to make a text only version of some HTML.
I am guessing what is happening here is that triggerOutputs()?['body/body'] inherently contains <html></html> tags which denote the start and end of an html document. This is confusing things, perhaps.
In your email compose, try removing the <p> and </p>.
EDIT - Hmm, well, that works, but it works with the <p>.
EDIT 2 - Oh! Perhaps it's because you're using the incorrect 'editor' mode in the 'Send an email (v2)' step. When you click the </> button it should switch the editor to look like this:
EDIT 3 - Hmm, in my tests even using that outputs(compose) with the amended HTML in the 'rich text' editor sent the email just fine.
I also wondered if perhaps those uneeded <p> tags in your compose were the issue, @garethaw . But I put them in mine and it worked, still.
Could you perhaps (block out anything sensitive) let us see each step in full, please?
(both your setup and the result if possible, but definitely the setup)
I have rebuilt the flow but still not working.
Flow Test:
Raw Output of the compose:

@eliotcole I have tried putting in p tags in both the compose and the email. Every combination you can think of. Looking at the raw output of the compose shouldn't I expect to see html tags?
You should.
That's plain text, @garethaw , mate. So I think there's a chance that you've maybe used the wrong 'body' in the making of the Compose action. Also, you don't need to add any extra <p> tags, that's what I was trying to say earlier. No extra code is required.
Either that or the emails are going into the Shared Mailbox as plaintext.
Do me a favour, perform the following:
Now Test that 'Automatically' on a recent trigger.
Look at the value in the new Compose, does it have HTML?
Hi Eliot,
Thanks for the assist,
As requested see below, it seems to confirm your theory that email is plain text?
If true, how do I retain the line breaks etc, my understanding of plain text has no formatting of any kind.
Raw output of compose:

Hi Eliot,

Yeah, that's the one.
That Raw output you're looking at, though, should result in definitive text on different lines, still. For example; the text "\n" means new line.
Are you forwarding the items to that Shared box? Perhaps the problem is occurring with the forward making it plain text, or the mailbox itself.
when I select the dynamic content from my compose action and "Send an email from a shared mailbox" this is when the formatting is lost.
No, mate, the email is in plain text.
Can you look at the email?
Tell you what, we could run a remote session if you like, drop me a DM.
