Apps are loading previous versions

After making changes to an app and saving, if I then go back to the list and launch/play the app, a previous version is shown. If I edit the same app, it brings up the correct version.

The app is not yet published but I wouldn't think this would make a difference. I have also tried Save As and overwriting the existing app. The only thing that works it to save it with a different name.

Re: Apps are loading previous versions

Not Publishing the app is exactly the problem.  A saved version of an app is draft and will always be loaded by the editor.  But the Published version of the app is what is used by people you share it with and in the list when the app is invoked by you.  While editing you can run the app using preview functionality. Then when it works the way you want you publish the app.  What you are seeing is by design.

Re: Apps are loading previous versions

Thanks for the quick reply.

Not the most obvious design in my opinion but thanks for the clarification.

Re: Apps are loading previous versions

Its the same design that SharePoint has always used for Publishing material.  There are major and minor versions.  Minor versions are draft and only seen by the editor.  Major versions are published and seen by everyone else. In this case the latest minor version is loaded by the editor and the major version is the run version. I agree it may not be intuitive, but it is a logical approach.

Re: Apps are loading previous versions

Yes sorry, that all makes sense. My issue is for completely unpublished apps (so no major versions yet) - either nothing should appear in the list or you should have draft versions visible.

Re: Apps are loading previous versions

So the other thing I should add.  Is that when you save the first version PowerApps automatically publishes the app.  Its only when you edit and save that version that the draft and major versions diverge.  You won't even see the Publish button the first time you save the app, only on succesive saves.
