Blank from gallery into dropdown does not work

Hi all,

I have already posted some questions about this on the forum, but for some reason they all dissapear. For me at least, so sorry if you come across this again.

I'm stuck with something which is quite vital. It looks like you can't put a blank value from a gallery (or data table) into a dropdow as default. I've made a simple test to show:

Here I make the collection containing a blank:

ClearCollect(colValues, "test1", "test2", "test3", Blank());

Then I assign this collection to both a gallery and a dropdown so they have exactly the same values.

As default to the dropdown I set:

Gallery5.Selected.Value

So, whatever item I select I click in the gallery, it should show in the text box from the dropdown, which it does except when I select the blank item. Then the previous value keeps there untill I click another not-blank value.
I've put the behaviour in a small gif:

giphy.gif

When I put the current value in a label as in the gif, it works even when it's blank (then it just shows a blank). But it does not in the dropdown, and I have no clue how this comes or why it should happen to be like that. Is it a bug? Or is there a workaround? I've tried much, but as far as I discovered no clean solution.

Can someone help me? I'd much appreciate it.

Many Thanks,

Ski

Re: Blank from gallery into dropdown does not work

Hi  @SkiDK ,

I am not sure if this is a bug or selection mechanism of Drop-down box.

Because the default value of the drop down has been set to null in the property, but it is not shown, we need to reset the control to restore the default value.

Please try this formula, put it to OnSelect of Gallery.

If(Gallery5.Selected.Value=Blank(),Reset(Dropdown1))

Hope this can help.

Best regards,

Sik

Re: Blank from gallery into dropdown does not work

Hi @v-siky-msft

Thank you very much. That makes sense. Instead of checking whether Gallery was blank I just had to reset the dropdown onselect of the Gallery:

So instead of this:

If(Gallery5.Selected.Value=Blank(),Reset(Dropdown1));

I did this and worked:

Reset(Dropdown1);

Thank you for the solution.

Have a great day,

Ski
