Collection too big?

Hi Folks -

I have the following collection set ofr OnStart:

Clear(ListActParentList);
Collect(ListActParentList,
         ShowColumns(RD_Investment_List, Portfolio_Status<>"Terminated"),
            "Name")
        );
Collect(ListActParentList,
        ShowColumns(
            Filter(RD_Target_List,Portfolio_Status<>"Terminated"),
            "Name")
        );
Collect(ListActParentList,
        ShowColumns(
            Filter(rdPlatIntInfa,DataCardValue27.Selected.Value<>"Terminated"),
            "Name")
        )

However, i'm noticing certain data element - particularly for "RD_Indication_List - are not available in my collection.

I use my collection as source for a ComboBox.  I have confirmed the data missing data elements from the collection do not have a Portfolio Status of "Terminated".

Is there perhaps a limit for a collection and I could be exceeding it? I am getting rhe delagation warning.

Re: Collection too big?

Hi @simms7400 ,

This is issue is caused by the column type of the columns blue-underlined. Since you are using <>, try with below formula instead:

Filter(RD_Investment_List,!StartsWith(Portfolio_Status,"Terminamed"))

Re: Collection too big?

I bumped up the app settings to 2000 and its working as expected now.

However, is there any negative impact of doing it this way?

Re: Collection too big?

Hi @simms7400 ,

Collections, and tables stored in context variables don't require delegation. All of this data is already in memory, and the full PowerApps language can be applied.

Would you please take a screenshot of where the delegation warning shows inside the formula? There should be a blue underline under the problematic parameters. I guess the issue should be related to the part that you Filter the data source list. If so, you could first collect the related data sources to collections and then Filter these collections to avoid the delegation warning.

According to the documentation here:

In some cases, you'll know that 2,000 (or 1,000 or 1,500) will satisfy the needs of your scenario. With care, you can increase this number to fit your scenario. As you increase this number, your app's performance may degrade, especially for wide tables with lots of columns. Still, the best answer is to delegate as much as you can.

Mona
