Combo box search delegation

Do combo box searches not support delegation? It doesn't seem to work on large datasets (mine is 18k records) without some trickery.

I'm sure I'm not the only person who has run into this, so here's my solution for anyone who needs it...

This goes in the combo box's OnChange property so that you can use the StartsWith function to search the dataset and stick it in a collection. Then, set the combo box's Items property to that collection.

ClearCollect(
    CollectionName,
    Filter(
        '[TableName]',
        StartsWith(
            ColumnName,
            ComboBox1.SearchText
        )
    )
)

This is pretty slow, but it does the job. Would like to see combo boxes just work this way in the future!

Re: Combo box search delegation

very good. I tried this

ClearCollect(ComuniCL;Filter(Comuni;StartsWith(Comune;ComboBox1.SearchText))) in onchange property of the combobox

then in the items property i put just ComuniCL but i cannot filter every record, it stucks at 500
