Combo boxes in offline environment

Hi everyone,

Got a question about the use of combo boxes.

I have created an app for offline purposes. Multiple screens and editforms, all data is saved offline and at the end, when the connection is restored, all data will be saved to a SharePoint list.

In the forms there are datacards with combo boxes. Thanks to a video of Shane Young I now get it done that the selected item in a combo box is saved to the collection. But it only works with an online connection, not in an offline situation.

The choices function in items does not show the items when offline.

What do I need to change that also in an offline enviromnent the people can select the item they want?

For example, ["", "Steel", "Aluminium", "Wood"] in the item function does not work.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Re: Combo boxes in offline environment

Hi @v-yuxima-msft ,

thank you for your answer.

I think the issue I faced had a difference cause than I expected.

Turns out I had to clear the  collection and restart PowerApps. Then by creating the collection again the right contraints are set in the collection and now it works.

Thanks again!

Re: Combo boxes in offline environment

Hi @Mengeltje

Do you want to create a offline app with ComboBox control using PowerApps?

Based on the needs that you mentioned, I think the SaveData function and LoadData function could achieve your needs.

Could you please take a try with the following workaround:

Set the OnVisible property of the first screen of your app to following:

If( Connection.Connected,

ClearCollect(ComboCollection, 'YourSPList'),

LoadData(ComboCollection, "ComboTest") );

SaveData(ComboCollection, "ComboTest")

then you could use the ComboCollectionto populate the ComboBoxcontrol within your app.

More details about the SaveData function andLoadData function in PowerApps, please check the following article:

SaveData function, LoadData function

More details about creating a offline app in PowerApps, please check the following blog:

https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/build-offline-apps-with-new-powerapps-capabilities/

Hope this could be helpful.

Best Regards.

Yumia
