DataCard's Default or DefaultSelectedItem for Person/Group Column

Is there a way to set the default value or defaultSelectedItems value to a person when creating a new Item??

I've tried using Patch... that didn't work as consistenly as I had hoped. And when it did work, it only worked the first time, and then if the user went in to edit something and submit the form, the field would empty out.

I've tried using LookUps and Finding the Office365User via searchTerm.

I'm wondering what I might be doing wrong or what i'm missing. This would be a big help if anyone could provide some guidance toward a resolution.

TIA!

Re: DataCard's Default or DefaultSelectedItem for Person/Group Column

It should just pull the person right into the field if you are using ThisItem.PeopleColumn format for the default property on the datacard. Is that the only field that doesn't populate when they edit?  What do you have in the datacard Default and or the Drp down controls Defaultselecteditems?

Re: DataCard's Default or DefaultSelectedItem for Person/Group Column

Hi @hofneondeion21 ,

Do you want to set a Default value for the Person column in your Edit form when creating a new item?

Further, could you please share a bit more about the formula you used in your Person ComboBox?

If you want to set a Default value for the Person column in your Edit form when creating a new item, please consider take a try with the following workaround:

Set the DefaultSelectedItems property of the ComboBox within the People field data card in your Edit form to following:

If(
   EditForm1.Mode = FormMode.New,
    {
        Claims: "i:0#.f|membership|" & Lower(User().Email),
DisplayName: User().FullName,
Email: User().Email, Department: "", JobTitle: "", Picture: "" },
Parent.Default )

Note: I assume that you want to set current login user as Default value within the People ComboBox in your Edit form.

Please also check my response within the following thread:

For the Items, it says Choices(ListName.'Column Name')... should it be something else?

Re: DataCard's Default or DefaultSelectedItem for Person/Group Column

Hi @hofneondeion21 ,

Based on the issue that you mentioned, I have made a test on my side, and don't have the issue that you mentioned. The formula you typed within the Items property of the Person ComboBox is correct.

Please consider re-generate a new app based on your SP List data source, then try above formula again, check if the issue is solved.
