Filtering a sorted, distinct list on dropdown box - where data is from excel table

Hi I have a table which is 8 columns by 400 items in Excel...

I am producing 3 individual drop down menus for this which are reliant on the data from the before...

So Drop Down 1 - Links to options in Drop2 -

Drop Down 3 driven by Drop Down 2

This works well.... but the problem is the spreadsheet is divided into two parts for the purpose of this it is eith er Maths or English..

I know through a previous screen wether we want to show options for Math or English this is held in a Label on a previous screen called searchsubject and is in lowercase so for example "english".

The first dropdown has the Formula

Sort(Distinct(objectives,maincat),Result)

The Column in the excel spreadsheet is called "subject" and contains either "English" or "Maths" notice capital E or M at start.

I thought that I would write a formula as

Filter(Sort(Distinct(objectives,maincat),Result), Subject = lower(searchsubject.text))

but it throws it out as if it does not know Column titled "Subject".

Any ideas on where I am going wrong.

Try it this way:

Sort(Distinct(Filter(objectives, Subject = lower(searchsubject.text)), maincat), Result)
