Get Default Combox options for Department from list and update based on Similar employee's Department

Hi,

I have been scratching my head for few days about this. Looking for some help here.

I have three combo-boxes.

1. Similar to User - combo-box

2. Department- combo-box

3. Job Title- combo-box

Department depends on "Similar to User" and 'Job Title' depends on 'Department. Department will have just one value. If similar user is a sales guy, department will be sales but Job Title can be multiple based on the Department.

When the app loads in Detail screen, everything loads from list. When I click on Edit screen, I can get Department and Job title to load if I select 'No Selection Text' as Parent.Default and Items as Distinct(Filter(Office365Users.SearchUser({ searchTerm:"", top:999 }), DisplayName = Similartouser_ComboBox1.Selected.DisplayName), Department) and DefaultSelectItems as [Parent.Default].

When I do not change anything and hit save, it does not work. If I change the value in 'Similar to user combbox', it works.

Re: Get Default Combox options for Department from list and update based on Similar employee's Department

Hi @Sri ,

Which type column do you use to store the Department ComboBox value and Job Title ComboBox value?

Could you please share more details about the formula within the Update property of the Department data card and Job Title data card?

Do you want to set a Default value within the Department ComboBox based on the "Similar to User" ComboBox?

Based on the issue that you mentioned, I have made a test on my side, and don't have the issue that you mentioned. Please take a try with the following workaround:

1. If you use Choice type column to store the Department combobox value:

Set the Items property of the Department ComboBox to following:

Distinct(
Filter(Office365Users.SearchUser({ searchTerm:"", top:999 }), DisplayName = Similartouser_ComboBox1.Selected.DisplayName),
Department
)

Set DefaultSelectItems property of the Department ComboBox to following:

{
   Result: Parent.Default.Value
}

Set the Update property of the Data card which contains the Department ComboBox to following:

{
  Value: DepartmentComboBox.Selected.Result
}

2. If you use Single Text type column to store the Department combobox value:

Set the Items property of the Department ComboBox to following:

Distinct(
Filter(Office365Users.SearchUser({ searchTerm:"", top:999 }), DisplayName = Similartouser_ComboBox1.Selected.DisplayName),
Department
)

Set DefaultSelectItems property of the Department ComboBox to following:

{
   Result: Parent.Default
}

Set the Update property of the Data card which contains the Department ComboBox to following:

DepartmentComboBox.Selected.Result

Please take a try with above solution, then check if the issue is solved.
