How do I use Common Data Service and difference from Dynamics 365?

What's the difference between Common Data Service and entities in Dynamics 365? We are going to use this. All I have at present is a trial version. The only thing I've seen so far is a Dynamics 365 entity which is roughly equivalent to a table. Is CDS better? How can I try it or use it?

The following article should give you a full view of Dynamics 365 and the Common Data Service for Apps:

Common Data Service for Apps Introduction

Common Data Service for Apps requires PowerApps license 2, for the different usage scenario, see:

License requirements for entities

Licensing Overview
