How do you stick a button to a sharepoint form so it's static?

Hi Guys,

This is hopefully a very easy one.

I trying to build a SP list form whereby a user can click either of 2 buttons which will trigger an update to a field.

However it doesnt seem to be possible to place the button at a static relational position to the other fields in the form. When i open the form as a user the buttons are misaligned and move with the scroll bar..

I wonder if this is because the buttons are at the same level of heirarchy as the SP form entity within the screen if that makes sense (Screenshot below) and perhaps the solution is to embed the button within the Form contents.. However if thats right i can see no way to do it.

Any help much appreciated

Re: How do you stick a button to a sharepoint form so it's static?

Hi @AlexCretney,

By "whereby a user can click either of 2 buttons which will trigger an update to a field", did you mean that when user clicks on the button, the data in one specific column would be changed, and it only changes the data inside the control, not the SharePoint side, and other columns' value stays the same?

If this is what you want to achieve, the buttons do not need to be inside the Form. But please tell us what values to be filled in the data card, after clicking on one of the buttons?

For example,

Button1.OnSelect=UpdateContext({Var: "TEST1"})
Button2.OnSelect=UpdateContext({Var:"TEST2"})
DadaCardValue1.Default=Var

DataCardValue1 is the label name of the field that you want to update.

After this, when you click one Button1, the value in the field would be "TEST1", and when clicking one Button2, it becomes "TEST2".

Regards,

Mona

Hi,

You need to unlock a datacard and inbed the button within a datacard. Otherwise the button is technically 'floating' on the screen.

Hope this helps 🙂
