How to create a clock in Powerapps

Hi All,

I'd like to create a clock in powerapps but have been unable to so far.

I've added a timer set the Autostart to True and Repeat to True

I've set the Ontimer End to

UpdateContext({textbox1:Text(Now(),"[$-en-US]dd/mm/yy hh:mm:ss")})

I've set the Text in the textbox I created to textbox1

The timer counts down as expected but the Textbox remains empty.

Any ideas would be awesome

Thanks in advance

Dave

Re: How to create a clock in Powerapps

Hi,

I just tried this as well.

I did not see the timer counting nor my textbox1 variable changing until I pressed the play button to preview the app.

I also recommend setting the Start property of the Timer to true and duration to 1000 and see if that helps.

Let me know if this works.

Re: How to create a clock in Powerapps

I have searched for this for quite awhile.   As a newbie to PowerApps, I'm just starting to figure this stuff out.   To get the countdown timer built, do you use a Text Input and add your UpdateContext formula?   What variable are you editing?   In other words, what are you selecting with the dropdown in the upper right of the page?   Default=?  Text=?   Sorry for the elementary questions but it's all new to me.

Re: How to create a clock in Powerapps

Hi @hughrmarks,

If I understand correctly, you'd like to create a countdown timer. You won't need any variables or formulas for this. It's just a matter of changing the text on your timer to show a countdown.

Here's the same solution that I provided another user (with more of an explanation):

https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/General-Discussion/Countdown-Timer/m-p/34897#M14365

Here's a video of the same process (I am not in a good environment for recording audio right now):

(Let me know if the link does not work)

Let me know if this helps
