Link to a specific place in a list

Dear all

 

I have a timesheet app with working days of the year in a list on my BrowseScreen (see e.g.1 attached).

As this is a long list, as the year goes on its going to require a fair bit of scrolling, didn't think about this in the design.

I want to add a menu screen that would allow the user to move to a specific point in the list, eg. the first day of the month.

I have created this screen and put some buttons on it (see e.g.2 attached), but cannot figure out how to add an action so that the 'August' button for example takes the user to the 1st of August in the list on the BrowseScreen.

 

Any idea? Open to other ways of doing it....

Please take a try to switch the Button to a Dropdown control (Name it to MonthDropdown), with the items property set to:

[0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12]

Then modify the items property of the Gallery control as below:

If(MonthDropdown.Selected.Value=0,
DataSource,
Filter(DataSource, Month(DateField)=MonthDropdown.Selected.Value)
)

See if doing this would meet your requirements.

I used it myself to create an app where users could enter day-based information. It did involve a lof ot calls to Lookup, to set colors, fonts and such, but it came out pretty nice in the end. When a day is selected, the day information is displayed on the right hand side.

In another app I did things differently; a gallery shows which dates are entered. The user can make a new registration by selecting the date from a Date Picker. To make sure there aren't duplicate entries the Save-button is disabled if there already is a registration for the selected date and user.

Those are just two ideas, feel free to get back if you want some more details.

Any reason why the same approach would not work with buttons?

@v-micsh-msft Navigate(BrowseGallery1, Fade) as an action on the button takes me to the screen I want to be on, but I'm not sure what I need next to scroll down the list. Each item in the list has an ID number so could call that. Just not sure of the command

 

On my BrowseScreen in the Body1 field, I have a unique ID, so I could just call for example.....

 

Navigate(BrowseGallery1, Fade,Body1=46)

 

46 is the first day of September for example... what commands am I missing?
