Need help understanding licensing for powerapps

I couldn't find information that would be helpful for me, so I thought I would ask here. For the last 10 months we have been using powerapps in relation with SharePoint. It has worked without problem during that time period, but today a lot of users started getting errors that the apps use features that only come with Powerapps premium plans. I thought that if the person who created and shared the app had a premium plan other people could use the app, this has been the case for the last 10 months. Is this not correct, does every user of the app need a premium plan. It seems like the feature that is causing problems is connecting to a local sql server with a gateway. Any one out there able to help me understand the issue?

Which PowerApps license does the creator have?

Which licenses do the end users have?  An Office 365 Business, Office 365 Enterprise E1 or Office 365 F1 licenses?

Based on the issue that you mentioned, I think it is a known issue recently. 

  • 2019-01-19 
    Users with Office 365 Business, Office 365 Enterprise E1 or Office 365 F1 licenses are being prompted to sign-up for free PowerApps premium trial when using apps containing custom connectors or on-premises gateway. This is in line with the corresponding licensing entitlements and customers are seeing this now due to roll out of improved license enforcement. This will help customers stay compliant with the licensing guidelines. Please refer the PowerApps pricing page for a complete list of licensing entitlements.

Currently, within PowerApps, the user who own Office 365 Business, Office 365 Enterprise E1 or Office 365 F1 licenses could not use an app which includes a custom connectors or On-Premises data Gateway connection.

Hi,

 

I need some clarification on the license too. I am on PowerApps Plan 2, using oracle premium connector. When I share with a user, why does it ask them to sign up for PowerApps Trail. All the user is doing is making changes to the form. Our organization has Office E3 license.

I have the same question.  If I have a P1 or P2 license and use CDS,  do all my E3 users get access to the apps
