Passing Un-Submitted Data from Screen1 from DataSource1 to Screen2 to DataSource2

Hello,

I have a SharePoint Online list that I've made into a PowerApp. This list is to record requests for New Users/hires that are needing an Active Directory account. Some of our users don't always require IT Equipment (Laptop/Desktop, monitors, etc.) so I have made a Yes or No radial button asking if IT Equipment is needed. If the user filling out the form clicks the "Yes" radial button I have placed the code,

If(btnEquipment.Selected.Value="Yes",Navigate(PurchaseScreen, None))

This will transition the user to another screen that is connected to another datasource (another SP Online List - IT Purchase Request) so the manager then can pick what equipment is needed for the user. In an effort to simply copy the the username text field from the 'User Account Request' to the intended user text field in the 'IT Purchase Request' I used the variable {UserName} to be transitioned if IT Equipment was needed, If(btnEquipment.Selected.Value="Yes",Navigate(PurchaseScreen, None,{UserName: txtUserName})) and then placed that variable in the 'Default' property value of the Text Input but come up with the error of "Name isn't valid. This identifier isn't recognized. This error appears most commonly when a formula refers to something that no longer exists."

I assume that's because I'm trying to access that from another DataSource? I've looked into implementing this solution, https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/General-Discussion/Passing-data-between-screens-using-multiple-d... but, this looks like it only works if the data is already submitted or existing on a SP list.

Clear as mud? I've attached a picture to help with the explaination, I feel as if I have spent too much time on a simple task! Any help would greatly be appreciated!

Re: Passing Un-Submitted Data from Screen1 from DataSource1 to Screen2 to DataSource2

Hi @llacefield,

I have made a test on my side, and don't have the issue that you mentioned. The GIF screenshot as below:Test1.gif

App's configuration as below:

2.JPG

 3.JPG

Within the "Account Request" screen, set the OnSelect property of the "Yes" button to following:

If(
DataCardValue5.Selected.Value="Yes",
Navigate(PurchaseScreen,ScreenTransition.Fade,{UserName: DataCardValue3.Text})
)

Within the "IT Purchase Request" screen, set the Default property of the Text Input control within the "Intended User" data card to following:

UserName

Please check if you have typed proper variable name within the Default property of the Text Input box within the Intended User data card in your "IT Purchase Request" screen.

In addition, please also take a try with the following workaround:

Within "Account Request" screen, set the OnSelect property of the "Yes" button to following formula:

Set(UserName, txtUserName.Text); /*I assume the txtUserName represents the TextInput box within New User's Name data card*/
If(btnEquipment.Selected.Value="Yes",Navigate(PurchaseScreen, ScreenTransition.None))

Within "IT Purchase Request" screen, set the Default property of the Text Input box within the Intended User data card to following:

UserName

then check if the issue is solved on your side.

Best regards,

Kris

Re: Passing Un-Submitted Data from Screen1 from DataSource1 to Screen2 to DataSource2

@v-xida-msft

Very good! It appeared to be as simple as me appending my code with '.TEXT'

If(btnEquipment.Selected.Value="Yes",Navigate(PurchaseScreen, None,{UserName: txtUserName}.Text))

After that, it worked great!

I greatly appreciate the help. One thing I will add is the extreme detail you went into for assisting me, all the way down to re-creating a simplified, duplicate of the same app! Awesome support!
