Power Apps - filter a value in excel

Hi everyone,

I am a newbie in PowerApps and I am trying to build my first app, based on a excel spreadsheet, hosted in my Onedrive account.

I found a lot of video tutos and also read the documentation but I have an issue to make a simple thing.

Indeed I just want to filter a value in a row, and return results in my application.

My excel spreadsheet is like this.

  •  Table Title : Animals
  •  Row1  : Dog / Cat / Fish
  •  Row2 : Name1/Name2/Name3...

=> What is the formula to filter only on "Cat" in Row1 and return results with the names (Row2) based on this filter ?

Thank you for your support!

@Poulpy0728

You can try using the below expression in your gallery control:
Filter(Animals,Type=Dropdown1.Selected.Result)
The label inside gallery will have the Default set as ThisItem.NameMicrosoftTeams-image (91).png

Hope this Helps!

Re: Power Apps - filter a value in excel

Hi @Poulpy0728

To filter out the results based on a certain condition, we can use the Filter query.
Format of my Excel Table:

TypeName
CatCat1
CatCat2
CatCat3
DogDog1
DogDog2
FishFish1

Use the the below expression:
Filter(Animals,Type="Cat").Name

here, I have used a dropdown, to see only the name values hence use the filter to get Name of all the Animals whose type is Cat.

You can use the same method on your fiels to get the required results.

Hope this Helps!

Re: Power Apps - filter a value in excel

Hi @yashag2255

Thank you! It helps a lot to understand.

I tried and indeed I have also the dropdown, showed in the screenshot.

But I don't know how I can add the results, based on the filter.I would like to use the dropdown as the filter - exactly like we do in excel.

Expected result will be like this :

The Dropdown contains the "Type" and results is a gallery with the "Name".

Thank you in advance for the support.

Re: Power Apps - filter a value in excel

Are you asking where you put that filter's logic? You would add that filter to the Dropdown controls Items property.
